CSUF Business Commencement Class of 2011

My buddy Roshan Patel speaking at our commencement. Worth checking out!

Another chapter of my life completed and I am done with college (for now..)! Last Sunday on May 22, 2011 I walked for my Bachelor's degree in Marketing. I decided to attend both the school and college commencement. Not a great idea after going to Yelle and eating Roscoe's the night before. It was a long 4 hours but it was great to be with friends for one last time before everyone separated.

Yelle @ The Music Box

Aint nothing better than celebrating Austin's graduation seeing Yelle. This is a French dance/electropop band that is sure to get you jumping and shaking your booty booties. She sings in French which may discourage you from listening to her but I assure you that this is good music and she's even better live.

Here's my favorite song: Ce Jeu

Contemplating if I should go see Ellie Goulding again but next up Above & Beyond, Lykke Li, and Bruno Mars.

Kina Grannis Live @ The Largo

On Friday May 20th, 2011 I had the opportunity to attend a sold out Kina Grannis show in Los Angeles. To my surprise the small venue had a theatrical setup with seats instead of a stand up concert. We sat only four rows from the stage and had the perfect view from the middle. She performed all her hits and even played a couple covers with her two sisters. She sounds amazing live and sounded as if I was actually listening to her record. If you've never listened to her, you should definitely give her a try or see her live. You'll instantly become obsessed with her music! I can't wait until she comes back to LA or maybe run into her at Irvine Spectrum.

Banana Bay to Celebrate End of Lectures

The one and only place to go for bomb Thai food that is accompanied by cheap alcoholic beverages (buy one get one). The marketing capstone class decided to take it up to Rowland Heights for Happy Hour after our last lecture class. This place never fails, unless the wait to get a table is ridiculously insane. Good thing we came on a Wednesday night and the rest of the world isn't starting their weekend yet.

We'll be going back in June and this time we'll be bringing the Professor with us!

Above & Beyond - Thing Called Love

Since it's A&B weekend, here's one of my favorite songs from them. Can't wait to see them at Sutra on May 30 2011. Small venue, 21+ and only $20! Pick up your tickets here.

Apple: Iphone 4 Coming To Sprint/T-Mobile?

Sources suspect that Apple isn't working on an iPhone 5 for this September release. Instead, what will come out is an upgraded version of the iPhone 4 which will be called iPhone 4s. They are also expecting that starting this September that the device will be available on two more carriers: T-Mobile & Sprint.

Pictured left is a picture of the white iPhone under T-Mobile captured about two weeks ago. It's believed that this phone is a prototype that Apple is testing T-Mobile's 3G band to see how compatible and if a new device needs to be manufactured for GSM carriers AT&T and T-Mobile.

If all is true I may finally have a legitimate iPhone!

Simply amazing voice! She even covered Rebecca Black's Friday song and it's something I would download.

The World Without Facebook

Facebook has become the biggest medium for businesses to market their brand today. Why you ask? It's free (well labor is going to be expensive) to make your own company page and there is a HUGE audience just waiting to be captured on Facebook. Take a look at Coca-Cola for example, who has able capture over 26 million likes for their page! Will Facebook still be popular 10 years from now? Who knows really but for now if your business isn't on the Facebook bandwagon, you're missing out on building relationships with your current customers, gaining new customers, and simply spreading brand awareness.

Kina Grannis Covers Oops I Did It Again

Can't wait to see Kina in three weeks! If you haven't heard of her, she actually had a music video aired during the 2008 Superbowl. She'll be performing at the Largo on May 20 in LA. Tickets are $20 and this will be a special show with her two sisters.

Purchase your tickets here.

King of CSUF

In three weeks I'll officially be walking at CSUF as an undergraduate with a Marketing concentration. It took a long five years to complete but it's time for me to go out and find a career now (though I do enjoy my time tutoring at Godinez High School). If anyone knows a Marketing related job with Internet Marketing, Social Media, Email Marketing, Advertising, etc. let me know! Just two presentations, one project, and one final to go before I walk on that stage with the Class of 2011.

Ellie Goulding at The Music Box

This has got to be one of the craziest experience ever. Not only did we spend $45 on tickets only 4 hours before the actual show but we risked the chances of purchasing fake tickets from a scalper. Luckily we got in and got floor access for her last show in North America before going back home! Ended the night after with Dos Burritos, a random mexican joint down the street from the venue.

One of my favorite songs from her is this Elton John cover of Your Song.

Chicken Delicious

In attempt to save money and eat healthy tonight I made some garlic mashed potatoes, BBQ chicken, and salad. What makes this dish special is the custom spicy BBQ sauce I made for the chicken. It came out with a slight kick but still had that tangy taste to it. Man I love chicken...

Rihanna ft Drake - What's My Name? Cover by Karmin

Newest Youtube sensation are these engaged duo that go by Karmin. They were first widely recognized after releasing their Chris Brown's Look at me now cover. This cover is awesome and I would love an mp3 version of this Rihanna cover on my playlist.

Pieology Pizzeria - Fullerton

One of my fellow group members informed us of a Pizza place nearby that had a custom niche similar to Chipotle (there's one across the street, haha) and Subway, so a few of us decided to go there for lunch today.

Upon walking in the restaurant will remind you a lot of Chipotle. Similar store layout, furniture, logo, and menu layout. The menu has a list of seven different pizzas. You can choose from these, make your own, or pick from the menu and add additional toppings. We were informed that for the price of $7.50 you can have unlimited toppings!

I was amazed by their operating system. You are taken through the assembly line adding additional toppings, then your pizza is popped into the oven. I paid for my pizza, grabbed a table with my friends and in the next 1-2 minutes my food was ready! So far Yelp has ratings of 4.5 stars and I don't see it going any lower than a 4. It's new, fast, tasty, affordable, and the staff was great.

Orisue & Earthweek Day 1

Orisue printed this postcard made of biodegradable paper embedded with wildflower seeds. In spirit of Earthweek I will attempt to plant this and see how it progresses and if anything will grow. If you're interested in one check out their site and fill out a form. They only printed 2,000 so if they got anymore expect to see you in your mailbox within 48 hours!

Together As Seven (One) 2011

This New Years we decided to spend it at the L.A Sports Arena with 45,000 other spectators for Kendra Tong's 23rd birthday! It was my first rave back since TAO '04 and everyone's first. Besides the overcrowding, it was a great time with some of my favorite people. I think we will be going back in the future and if you have no idea what a rave looks like check out the video below. I suggest it's something everyone should experience if you are open to this type of music.

Flooded!

So much for attempting to ride along the riverbank along Irvine. This California rain weather has been weird lately but I still love the rain.

Welcome to 2011!

Hola there and welcome to my blogger. I recently wanted to start blogging my events and activities again to share with everyone. I used to blog often but stopped due to not keeping up with posting and getting lazy but now that I just got a new digital camera it's time to start again!

Currently listening to: Dash Berlin - Sancutary vs Kidsos

Ever since I heard Sebastian Ingrosso mash up MGMT's Kids & Justice's We Are Your Friends, I love any song which features Kidsos plus the vocals from Sanctuary adds a soothing touch.
